Homes in Palm Beach Gardens Florida offer residents an extraordinary lifestyle.  Lush, tropical gated and non-gated communities feature gorgeous estate homes in Palm Beach Gardens as well as quaint villas.  There are quintessential Southern Florida homes located in highly esteemed neighborhoods such as Old Palm Golf Club, Eastpoint Country Club, and Mirasol.   Classy art galleries and cultural venues, fine shopping, spas, resorts, recreation, and outstanding restaurants round out the superb Floridian quality of life.

Palm Beach Gardens FL real estate is located in the fast-growing northern portion of Palm Beach County, north of West Palm Beach Florida homes.  A Tree City USA, the City features an award-winning Parks and Recreation Department with a municipal golf course intertwined with environmentally sensitive lands.  Over 50,000 residents now reside in the community.

Additionally, Palm Beach Gardens is the headquarters of the Professional Golfers Association of America (PGA).  There are a dozen golf courses within the city limits, many hosting PGA tournaments over the years.  The Honda Classic, held at the PGA National Resort and Spa since 2007 and at the Country Club at Mirasol from 2003 to 2006, is one example.  The region is home to some of the best golf country clubs in the nation.

In 1959, wealthy landowner and insurance magnate John D. MacArthur announced plans to develop 4,000 acres and build homes for 55,000 people.  During the 1960s, the city population grew to 7,000.  MacArthur transplanted two old banyan trees into Lake Park, at MacArthur Boulevard near Northlake Boulevard, to lure people to see the new community.  A symbol of the community, the two banyan trees are also on the city shield.

In 1989, the city adopted an Art In Public Places ordinance.  In 2007, Alexandre Renoir, the great-grandson of impressionist artist Pierre-Auguste Renoir, presented the city his painting of the banyan trees, which is now on display in city hall.

Growth continued throughout the 1970s and 1980s.  In 1988, the opening of the Gardens Mall, a 1.3-million square foot retail complex, initiated a new wave of developments.  The MacArthur Foundation also sold 5,000 acres in 1999, a plat that developed very quickly.

A strong City Council responds to the needs of the growing population.  Enacting strict zoning laws, the community continues to set the standard as a Signature City.  Employers include Ameribank and Wachenhut headquarters, The Gardens Mall, PGA Commons, Legacy Place, and downtown at the Gardens.  The advanced biomedical research facility for Scripps Research Institute is relocating nearby onto the campus of Florida Atlantic University.

In 1960 there was but one resident, a squatter that MacArthur allowed onto the land.  Fifty years later, his dream is close to fruition.
