Real estate in Atlantis Florida is located in Palm Beach County in the Miami-Fort Lauderdale metro area. Approximately 2,200 residents of Atlantis FL real estate are proud of landmarks such as Atlantis Country Club, the Atlantis Golf Club and the JFK Medical Center. The combination of the Atlantis Country Club homes and real estate makes up one of the most aesthetically beautiful country club communities in the nation.
Forty-three percent of the total land area in Atlantis is devoted to recreation and permanent open space. The boundaries of the small community are Lake Worth Drainage District L-14 Canal on the north, Lantana Road on the south, Military Trail on the west, and South Congress Avenue on the east.
Formerly known as Mulberry Farms, this 834-acre development owned by former State Senator Phillip D. Lewis changed hands in 1958. Lewis and his Mission Company raised Brahman cattle on the property. Nathan Hunt and Paul Kintz bought it along with two other parcels along Lantana Road. They worked together with Engineers Brockway, Weber & Brockway and Designer Ernest L. Green to achieve the magnificent Atlantis community.
Simultaneously, the first residents received a charter on June 19, 1959 to incorporate as a city. Members of the first Council were James Kintz, Mayor; Nathan Hunt, Vice Mayor; Paul Kintz, Marjorie Hunt, and William Blakeslee, Councilmen. In 1960 and 1961, the Atlantis Inn and Golf Clubhouse and one of the 18-hole golf courses opened their doors.
Today, the community boasts ten miles of streets and a vibrant commercial and office district, primarily the doctor’s offices surrounding JFK Medical Center. The median income for a family is over $80,000. With 1,200 residences, the average year-round occupancy is approximately 70 percent.
Education by the Palm Beach County School District is available for families. The schools include a large number of charter schools and magnet programs. There are magnet programs in math, science, technology, visual arts, performing arts, communication arts, and international studies.
