Lake Worth FL real estate in Palm Beach County Florida offers 40,000 residents historic Florida real estate, a vibrant downtown, direct access to the Atlantic Ocean, metropolitan amenities, and abundant Florida sunshine. Lake Worth is part of the real estate in the South Florida metropolitan area.

Along the eastern border of Lake Worth is the Lake Worth Lagoon, originally called Lake Worth. Lake Worth real estate reaches west from the lake past downtown art galleries, theater, and the museum. Families and friends enjoy strolling along Lake and Lucerne avenues, dipping in and out of sidewalk cafes and coffee shops, discovering artwork from two hundred years ago, and enjoying a lakefront oasis of sights and sounds. Downtown in Bryant Park, a 1920s band shell is the centerpiece for year-round events held on the lake.

Historic Florida neighborhoods of real estate in Lake Worth include Bryant Park, College Park, Downtown Jewel, Eden Place, South of Sixth Avenue (SOSA), Mango Groves, parrot Cove, Vernon Heights, South Palm Park, Tropical Ridge, Whispering Palms, Sunset Ridge, and Lake Osborne Heights or ROLOH.

Intermingling with these well-kept neighborhoods are beautiful public parks and open space. On the Atlantic, Municipal Beach offers one of the last large public areas on the southeast coastline. Visitors enjoy nature walks in the Snook Islands Recreational Boardwalk and Fishing Pier to fish as well as to view mangroves and manatee. Additionally, the city operates an affordable municipal golf course with extraordinary views of Palm Beach. On the western border of the community, hiking and biking trails, picnic areas, and campgrounds encircle Lake Osborne.

General William J. Worth, who led U.S. forces during the Second Seminole War, inspired the naming of Lake Worth and subsequently the city. In the 1880s, the original post office for a place referred to as Jewel served the pioneer homesteads along the lake. As soon as Henry Flagler's railroad connected West Palm Beach to Miami in 1896, developers set about creating a town between the lake and the railroad. Lake Worth incorporated in 1912.

The first wave of residents included farmers from the South and Mid West. More came after a bridge over the lake in 1919 better accommodated automobiles. The Gulf Stream Hotel, which is now on the National List of Historic Places, became a popular destination.

However, much of the progress halted in 1928 after a severe hurricane hit the town. Development resumed after World War II as immigrants from Quebec, Finland, and Germany industriously built cottages, restaurants, shops, and churches. In the last few decades, immigrants from Central America added a special Hispanic touch to the community.

Schools operated by the School District of Palm Beach County, Palm Beach Community College, and the private sector serve the families.
